The opera house, an empty quiet place it was here tonight, mind you it was midnight and the town's people were home in their beds, their outlook on home making them feel safe for tonight.
They were fools, they all were. This town was full of people just waiting for death, you could feel it when you walked past them on the streets, see it in their eyes right before you drained them of this of their life. But lately, even the simple act of killing didn't appeal to Liam. It didn't satisfy him as it used to.
It was Rose, she was alive, trying to ruin any happiness he had left.
Liam could feel himself clenching his fist, hitting the wooden seat in front of him, She was supposed to be dead. his voice echoed again and again.
Silently, Liam sat, his mind continuing in his thoughts when he realized he wasn't alone, someone very near.

A bunch of bats created a little whirlwind in the shadows and Tiffany landed onto the marble floor of the cathedral gently. She liked visiting this kind of places, the best pieces of architecture humans had made in her opinion, where she could hang out in peace and maybe sing. But she hadn't expected to find Liam in here now, instead of slaughtering innocent people in their sleep. But here he sat, seemingly troubled and depressed, too much for a laid-back person like him. Tiffany wondered why.
Liam must have felt her presence already. She felt the need to say something, to... show a bit a concern. "What's troubling you?" She asked quietly, feeling kind of awkward.

Liam closed his eyes, relishing in the softness of Tiffany's voice. He remembered watching over his little brother and this girl, the bond they shared as she grew older and blossomed into quite the woman. He had been a jealous older brother, and Tiffany had been part of the reason of that envy.
Taking a moment before he answered, Liam stared blankly at the empty space in front of them, where during the day a songstress would sing to the crowd bringing them comfort in their days of darkness, pitiful were the humans.... But still, Liam found himself in their postion, could it be that humans and demons, although so far different, could share the same feelings?
Standing up, Liam turned to look at the tiny red haired woman who was no longer the child who ran around the demon world waiting for a mother who was never coming home. He felt something stir from within him, he remembered hearing the news that Nevan had lost her life, it had been a tragedy for the demons to lose an ally like her, he felt the urge to protect her, to keep her safe at all costs.
" I've just been thinkin." He answered honestly as he looked past her. " Will you stay with me for a while? We can talk some, I've just been having one hell of a weak."
Liam looked up, this wasn't something he was used to, showing weakness, it was so.... so human, and Liam was far from human, but he felt vunerable for the first time in his life, and all he wanted right now was to not be alone.

Tiffany examined the older demon as he stood up and turned to her. His eyes were clouded by sorrow, shoulders lightly down, legs seemingly unwilling to carry his big body. She wasn't sure if she was really staring at Liam Delowsky, that cruel fire demon, the babykiller descendant of Berial. No, he looked...
Weak. In need. Even -she couldn't believe she thought that- humanly. Liam looked like a mourning human. The strong warmth usually spreading from his body couldn't be felt now.
But what confused her most, was that he was showing this side of his to Tiffany, and even asking for support. He resembled his little brother like this, and Tiffany felt the same way she would if she'd seen Roman like this: Uncomfortable.
Bowing her head to the side in acceptance to his request, Tiffany approached and sat down near Liam, waiting for him to also sit back down. A moment of silence in the beautiful cathedral... "What were you thinking?" She finally asked, quietly not to ruin the peaceful ambient. "I'll listen... if you wanna share."

Liam quietly took his seat, this time sitting beside Tiffany. He was honest with her when he told her he didn't want to be alone. All these feelings were flooding through him and he couldn't control him, this, something the usually mean spirited Liam was not used to.
" Remember when I had that rebellious stage, I hated my father and everything he stood for and I ended up leaving to come up here to earth?"
Liam turned his head to face Tiffany, however he found himself still unable to look her in the eyes, however he continued as though telling his story was lifting a weight off of his shoulders that he had been carrying around with him for centuries, and in some ways, he may have been carrying this guilt deep within him for centuries and it was now just rearing itself out of hiding, weakening him to this current state.
" When I came here to earth, I was looking for something. Anything, I just wanted to be as different as possible from where I came from, so I came up here to earth and for a while I found myself trying to live like one of the humans. I would share drinks with them, I'd work with and sometimes for them. I fell in love with one of them."
His jaw clenched, memories were coming back to him, drowning him within himself. He paused and looked at Tiffany, wondering if he should keep going, sh probably thought him weak by now, and he didn't know if she would want him to bother her with these memories which tortured him.

Tiffany was listening absent-mindedly, staring at the marble floor until she heard Liam falling in love with a… human? At that instant she looked at Liam’s face with shock. Had she heard right? When he turned his head and looked her in the eyes, Tiffany looked away, unsure of what to say. She’d never heard of a demon falling in love with a human before; what kind of mortal could have had that influence on a demon, let alone Liam? It just didn’t sound logical, such poor creatures like humans…
Liam had stopped speaking, but she was interested in the rest of the story. “So…” Tiffany started, her mouth slightly curling, “here you were thinking about this human..?”

Liam nodded, this gesturing his reply. " She wasn't like the rest of us." He said as if trying to defend himself to a jury, as though he was on trial. " She was different, completely oppisite than a demon and that's why I had been drawn to her. "
He remembered the first night he had met Rose, he had chivaliously walked her home. That night had been as though he was like any other human man, a gentleman, a fitting member of society. " She was innocent at the time. Going through rough spots with her father always being gone and a mother who was ill. But most importantly, she was a human and I thought that's what I needed to send the message to my dad that I wasn't like him."
He could feel it, he was panicking now, his palms sweaty as he clenched them tightly, his fists hurting from the preassure; but somehow, he kept going, " One night, things got kinda bad."
The memories of a time long past kept drenching Liam's thoughts, a fire, and then an argument.
" One night, I had a moment of weakness. I couldn't control that part of me- the demon part and I just exploded, I took down the city, men and women took the rath that I had been supressing for the longest time. Rose didn't like it and I tried to come back to grips- for her, but I couldn't I didn't have the strength and....."
It was hard to come to terms with what he did. How that brick wall that he had built between his will and the demon inside just came crumbling down but he knew he had to force this, he had to say it out loud. " I hurt her. Pretty badly. Afterwards I felt- I dunno, guilt maybe, I tried to take her back but when I left her side I knew she was dead...... Or at least I sure she was."
At this Liam looked back at Tiffany, he didn't know what to expect. Did she think him weak now, did she think he was just a mere human trying to be a demon.
" She still alive though Tiff. It's like she's haunting me."

Tiffany tried to put the story together in her head: Liam had mimicked humans' lives, falling for one, then he'd killed her in a moment of demonic rage but she was back now... Somehow. Something was out with that. I would be depressed too if i couldn't kill a mere human.
Aside from this random thought, Tiffany was confused about something."Shouldn't you be happy?" she asked. "You hurt her unintentionally but she is alive... After all," she glanced at him cautiously before going on, "you loved her, right?" He shouldn't have looked so tense while talking about this woman, right?

She was right, he should've been happy. It's not everyday that someone; demon or human had a second chance like he had now, but for so long Liam had been haunted by the very past he had been trying to forget, for so long the young girl's dying face haunted his dreams.
" That's the confusing part Tiffany," Liam began his explanation, " On one hand, I'm happy for her, I'm happy she's getting to experience life but she's different now. She's a vampire now."
With this Liam peered downwards towards the floor, his eyes now studyed the marble pattern embeded in the surface. It was strange now, he thought after talking about all this it would make him feel better. He thought he'd just say it and go on with life like he's always done, like he always did.
" She complicates things." He said, his voice hoarse and in a whisper. " Just her being here makes me moving on more complicated, I've met someone else who's made me happy..... And now it feels like being cut through with a knife, she comes back as I'm happy again."

A vamp... what? Tiffany had no idea what that was. Some kind of demon maybe? But she'd never heard that word in hell... Whatever kind of creatures those were, they had to be immortal, according to Liam's story.
"I... don't know what to say." She spoke quietly. "I'm not one to advise about this; I've never... felt such things against someone." That was true, she didn't know love, didn't know all the complicated things it could bring. She wasn't even sure if she was even able to "fall in love" after everything she'd gone through. She only knew a mother's love, a mother's warm embrace, which she hadn't felt for years.
For a demon, Tiffany was too young to know about many things. And now near Liam, she was embarrassed by the fact. "Sorry."

Liam hung his head again, he knew none of this made sense to neither Tiffany, or him. He wasn't used to feeling weakness, he wasn't used to feeling anything except the instinct to kill, to hear the screams of others as he put them through torture.
" A vampire. An immortal blood sucking creature who never dies." Liam sighed as he slowly and unsurely turned his head back towards Tiffany- unsure of what he was about to see. As he looked, the vision almost left him breathless.
There she sat beside him, not judging him, and staying quiet while he ranted on. Maybe Liam was having a revalation, maybe he was starting to realize that there were people in this world- human or not worth caring for.
No- that wasn't it, point was, Liam was a demon, a soul sucking murderer who did anything he wanted to just for fun, but he was grateful for this girl turned woman who sat beside him, he now understood why Roman chose to protect her for those many years before. As he sat here beside the slightly pale red head who sat soaking up the faint moonlight he could completely understand why men down at the demon world flocked towards her.
Quietly and quite suddenly, Liam's hand inched towards Tiffany's where he ever so gently laid it there. " Thank you." He said, unknowing of his own future. " I'm sorry for being so hard on you and Roman back home."

Tiffany’s eyes widened with the large, tough and strongly warm feeling on her hand. When she glanced down, she saw Liam’s own covering hers, hiding her little hand completely under his big palm. She was caught off guard with such an unexpected move from such an unexpected person; a shiver went up her arm, followed by a strong warmth. As Liam thanked her and apologized for his behavior in the past -shocking her even more-, the warmth flowed through Tiffany’s whole body, relaxing her, melting away her tension. It was strange but…
“Sleep now, my child.”
… she hadn’t felt so safe for a long time.
Slowly she looked up into Liam’s eyes. In those dark depths was gratefulness. Sincerity. Affection. Things she’d received from only two people before; the only ones that showed care for her before. But there was something more in those eyes, the way he stared at her; something more intense than her mother’s love or Roman’s brotherly company…
Tiffany couldn’t recognize that emotion, though her lips slowly and unsurely curled upwards into a smile, a short moment that she put her mask down. “I did nothing for you to thank me.” She mumbled afterwards, looking away again. “And the past… can be forgotten.”

She was wrong in that sense, the past could never be forgotten, that was who they were, it was what made them into what they were here and now. And as much as Liam wanted to forget his past, as much as it would itch at him when he thought of those years of his life, he would still be able to use that time as well. It was a lesson, one in which variables had not so great of an outcome, that was until now.
" Your wrong." He told her as he took hold of her hand and pressed the smooth skin to his face, " You're wrong to say I shouldn't thank you."
He closed his eyes taking in the scent and feel of her skin, she smelled of innocence, something that was very rare coming from a demon. It was a nice difference, something that Liam could get used to. A voice inside him told him to stop now and run, this being the voice of reason that Liam didn't understand one bit and quite frankly he didn't want to understand, all he wanted was the here and now, that was how it should be, tonight for the first time he had showed weakness to this lovely creature sitting beside him and he was becoming very interested to know what other things he could experience for the first time with her.

Tiffany felt her hand being held up, then a warm breath hitting the thin skin. She looked at Liam hesitantly, trying not to seem too tense but not able to help the uneasiness. This little, but complicated action of his had brought their communication to a new level now, a more physical and seemingly intense way. Such action Tiffany had never received before, not from a man at least; she could tell it was different than the way family would show their care. And the real question was, why? Why would he act this way towards her? Why here? Why her? Just what was he doing?
Tiffany’s mind fell in a chaos of confusion and she didn’t know how to react from this point on. Liam had now closed his eyes, inhaling deeply with a totally relaxed expression, unlike the beginning of their conversation... Was it something she did? The warmth coming from him into her body was still there, but it didn’t feel so safe anymore due to the unknowingness of the situation. As much as she was curious about what was going to happen, she might not have been ready for that. Her fingers twitched in Liam’s grasp as she tended to pull her hand back gently, trying not to be impolite but clearly giving her message. If he let go, she would leave then... At least that was her plan.

Liam could feel the tension rising within the lovely creature sitting next to him, it didn't surprise him to feel the warmth of her hand disappear, after all this side of Liam was a surprise even to himself. He opened his eyes and looked at her apologetically, hoping he had not broken any boundaries that were between them.
" I'm sorry." He muttered his voice sounding strange to him as he heard the words, " I just got caught up...." He was staring at her now. Taking in the vision lingering beside him, wondering how in the world she had such an effect on him. He realized he wanted her, in every way he could possibly have her, and it was odd to practice such self control when he was the type to just reach out and take what he wanted.
The only problem was now, Liam didn't know how long he could hold out.
